The cast of My 600-lb Life can be unpredictable, given that the cast members are Dr. Now’s patients. As Dr. works with more patients, they continue to see him on My 600-lb Life, increasing his public profile, and more patients will seek his assistance specifically.

Likely, some of the doctor’s patients come directly from casting, while others are actual patients of the doctor’s beforehand.

What happened to JT on 600 lb life?

J.T. managed to drop nearly 400 pounds while under Dr. Now’s care. J.T. became accustomed to eating constantly.

He weighed “so much [he could] hardly move” which helped him realize that “at any moment [his] heart could just give out.” That’s what prompted him to set off on a harrowing road trip to Houston to visit Dr. Now.

Dr. Now agrees to take him as a patient, though he advises J.T. that he has to relocate to Houston because the back-and-forth is too much on his body and his lymphedema, which everyone is very concerned about.

Jessica decides to end her relationship with J.T. because it has become too much for her and she wants to return to her normal life, and who can blame her?

This means that J.T. will have to lose the remaining weight required for gastric sleeve surgery with the assistance of only Dr. Now and a cousin who visits him in the Houston rehab and halfway houses where he lives prior to the procedure.

By the end of the 12-month journey, after a few serious conversations with Dr. Now (“You are killing yourself with food,” he tells J.T. at one point),. He underwent surgery, and his weight was 491 lbs.

After undergoing surgery and losing weight, his next step was to remove the massive mass on his leg, which Dr. Now hoped would shed another hundred pounds.

Although we do not see it on the show, J.T. announced on Facebook in February 2023 that he was finally having surgery to remove the mass from his leg.
