Daniel James Schneider is an American television producer, screenwriter, and actor. From 1994 until 2019, he developed and oversaw several Nickelodeon children’s programs.
Since 2018, he has been the subject of intense media attention and controversy due to multiple accusations of inappropriate behavior.
Since the premiere of the Investigation Discovery docuseries “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” earlier this week, rumors about numerous well-known Hollywood figures have persisted.
The intimate behind-the-scenes stories of some of Nickelodeon’s most popular shows were shared in the two-part documentary, which made an unexpected impression on viewers.
It also exposed the purportedly toxic and violent workplace culture fostered by adults on the network, such as Brian Peck, who was convicted of torturing Drake Bell, a well-known adolescent celebrity.
The documentary focused on showrunner Dan Schneider, who was the subject of allegations of verbal abuse, sexism, racism, and harassment from adult coworkers and former child stars.
Described as Nickelodeon’s “golden boy,” Schnieder was behind some of the most successful live-action shows in the network’s history, a level of success that some of his former coworkers say enabled his bad behavior.
Did Dan Schneider go to jail?
No, he has never been formally criminally charged.
In the wake of the MeToo movement, details of his alleged sexual misconduct and gender discrimination allegations towards Nickelodeon employees, many of them underage, were made public beginning in 2018. In response to the accusations, Nickelodeon ended their long-time partnership with Schneider.
He disclosed in 2021 that he had written and sold a new pilot to a different network following a three-year break.

On Sunday, March 17 at 9 p.m. ET, Investigation Discovery (ID) debuted “Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.”
Two parts of the four-episode series were broadcast; the second part was made available the next day, Monday, March 18, at 9 p.m. ET.
Some cable packages and live TV streaming services, such as Fubo, DirecTV, Philo, and Sling, offer the ID channel.
Following its release, it will also be accessible for streaming on the Roku Channel, Apple TV, Max, and Prime Video.
