Henry Cavill has repeatedly expressed his admiration for The Witcher ever since he was first cast as Geralt of Rivia. What’s more, that is the reason it’s come as such a shock that Henry was not engaged with the show past season three.
On October 29, 2022, Netflix announced that Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) had been cast as the titular White Wolf for the fourth season of Geralt. Now is the time to stop tossing those coins to Cavill.
After this big reveal, our new Geralt said in an official statement that he’s “over the moon” to play him. That’s lovely, but many fans have already made it abundantly clear that they are dissatisfied with this modification.
The Witcher fans seem to agree that Henry is the Witcher, perfectly embodying the Geralt of their dreams from the books and games, regardless of what you think of the show.
That is just fine, however, why precisely did Henry choose to break our hearts and leave The Witcher in any case? Although an official explanation has not yet been provided, we have our suspicions:
Did Henry Cavill leave The Witcher due to Superman?
Sources tell Deadline, the publication where the news first broke, that Cavill had only signed a “short-term deal” for The Witcher. And this is largely due to the extensive production schedule, which required him to manage numerous other significant projects simultaneously.
Those equivalent sources likewise propose that Henry’s Witcher co-stars additionally reevaluated their agreements heading into season four too.
Is it possible that Henry Cavill left because of issues with The Witcher?
Fans who recall Henry stating in The Hollywood Reporter that he was prepared to stay on board for seven seasons were particularly surprised by the news of Henry’s departure.

There were rumors that Henry Cavill left the sets of The Witcher because he and showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich had some creative differences. Presently, it is accounted for that the Netflix essayists didn’t like the first source material, and they needed to make a captivating world that can draw in more crowd and had purportedly ‘ridiculed’ the books composed by Clean writer Andrzej Sapkowski.
Despite the many upcoming changes, not all fans would agree, and Cavill’s status as a superfan makes it entirely possible that he would be one of them. Also, if Henry was unsettled, there’s still just such a lot of he could change and modify inside the job.
Naturally, there is a possibility that all of this is incorrect. Keep in mind that none of these hypotheses have been proven correct as of yet, and Henry Cavill may be ditching his wig for good for a completely different reason. Perhaps it’s itchy? Perhaps he dislikes the color? Or, fair play, he might be sick of trying to play so many intense action roles at once.
However, it’s hard to imagine The Witcher going on for very long without Henry, regardless of what happens. Regardless of how good or bad Liam Hemsworth does in the role, it seems tough for Henry’s fans to imagine it without Cavill and that lovable, musty old wig right now.
