Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have never been hesitant to be forthright and honest about their relationship. Although they first met in February 2007, the relationship did not become public knowledge until more than two years later.
Wade was still married to Siohvaughn Funches, and they have two kids together, Zaya and Zaire. Union, however, had recently divorced her first husband, former NFL player Chris Howard, after they initially made their separation announcement in 2005.
Union and Wade first publicly acknowledged their relationship in 2010, and they later wed in 2014. Union became the stepmother of Xavier, Wade’s son, and Funches’s two children. Furthermore, Wade is Dahveon Morris’ guardian under the law. Kaavia James, the couple’s daughter, was born in November 2018.
Not love at first sight!
According to Union, it was not exactly love at first sight when the couple first met at a Super Bowl party in 2007 where they were both chosen to co-host. According to E! News, Union admitted to Essence that when the two first met, there were not exactly sparks flying.
She spoke to Glamour in 2014 and was even more open about their first meeting, saying, “When I met Dwyane, his résumé looked like crap: athlete, going through a divorce, nine years younger than me. All of that did not scream, “Let us build a relationship that lasts.
Union, however, decided to give Wade a chance after experiencing a “heart-crushing breakup.”
Although Union and Wade started dating in 2009, they did not make their public debut until July 2010. At the Summer Groove Benefit Dinner in Hollywood, Florida, the couple posed for pictures together. Two days later, at Wade’s All-Star basketball game at Miami’s American Airlines Arena, the couple could be seen making out on the courtside.

Union stated during an appearance on “Live with Kelly and Mark” on Tuesday that “I think he chooses places he can feel the most comfortable.”

Union said that her husband frequently picks travel destinations with warm weather for one reason, even though she added that their anniversary is typically celebrated with a few other couple friends who have similar anniversary dates.
Mark Consuelos questioned the actress, 41, about her husband’s plans for their impending ninth wedding anniversary during an appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark on Tuesday.

Kelly Ripa then interjected to inquire about the big trip’s schedule, but Union responded that Wade possessed the majority of the information.

Union revealed that she and Wade’s shoulder equal financial responsibility for the family during an interview on the Black Millionaires podcast.
She explained, “In this house, everything is split equally. However, there is always a “gorilla on your back” that is saying, “You better work, b—, you better work,” in the other households that each of us must support. Oh, you’re going to sleep in?’ You know, somebody might not eat.”
When she was a struggling actress in Hollywood, Union said she had a “scarcity mindset,” which she is working to get rid of.
“I feel as though I now have more financial obligations. I start to worry, thinking, “Oh God, that movie did not start.” Am I going to have enough to hold everybody up?’ “
As they get ready to mark nine years of marriage on August 30 after spending more than ten years together, the couple has much to be happy about.
