These stories have not only entertained millions worldwide but have also paved the way for groundbreaking storytelling, tackled pressing social issues and launched the careers of numerous Hollywood stars.

All My Children
Pine Valley, Pennsylvania, has a rich history, but for many people, it is best known for one legendary figure: Erica Kane, played by Susan Lucci.
The show’s portrayal of the lives of the wealthy and famous was established by Erica’s several reinventions (model, talk-show presenter, cosmetics mogul) and loves (eight marriages).
However, AMC also tackled significant societal themes, including homosexuality, spousal abuse, AIDS, abortion, and the rape of acquaintances.
It aired the first-ever same-sex wedding between two women and the first-ever same-sex kiss between two lesbian characters, Lena (Olga Sosnovska) and Bianca (Eden Riegel), making television history.
Guiding Light
Beginning as a radio program in 1937 and moving to television in 1952, the groundbreaking CBS soap opera Guiding Light chronicled the struggles of the hardworking Bauer family and other Springfield residents as they tried to survive and cope with the many obstacles of life, love, and growing up.
Springfield is a fictional town where Guiding Light was filmed. Throughout the course of the show’s 72 seasons, other colorful families, including the Spauldings, Marlers, and Santos families, were introduced, bringing drama and mayhem.
After concluding in 2009, Guiding Light operated for 72 years on radio and television, making it the longest-running soap opera ever. It also has the fifth-longest run in TV broadcast history.
One Life to Live
The residents of the made-up town of Llanview, Pennsylvania, are well-versed in personalities; they have large antihero personalities like Asa Buchanan (Phil Carey) and Todd Manning (Roger Howarth), as well as many personalities like Vicki Buchanan’s (Erika Slezak) and her daughter Jessica’s (Bree Williamson).
