Is Kristina leaving GH? The star of General Hospital, Lexi Ainsworth, has spoken out about her announcement to leave the soap opera.

Since 2009, fans of General Hospital have become familiar with actress Lexi Ainsworth, who portrayed the character of Kristina Davis.

Kristina Davis is a fictional character that appears in the ABC network soap opera General Hospital. In 2002, Kristina was introduced by Jill Farren Phelps, Robert Guza, Jr., and Charles Pratt, Jr. She is the daughter of mob boss Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), his former attorney. 

She was nominated in 2011 for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Dramatic Series, and in 2017 she won in the same category.

Who plays the role of Kristina?

Kristina was born in 2002, and she was portrayed by multiple actors. After her 2011 exit, the character was brought back in 2012 with Lindsey Morgan in the role. Ainsworth reprised her role in September 2015 but exited again in October 2017. However, Ainsworth returned to GH again in the summer of 2018 and continued to appear regularly until May 2023.

As of right now, Kate Mansi plays the part.

The casting of Kate Mansi as Kristina was revealed on May 4, 2023; Ainsworth made her last appearance on April 27, and Mansi made her debut on May 24. Ainsworth described her departure as “mutually beneficial” in a social media post, citing her goal to pursue other opportunities.

She gave more details about her departure in an exit interview, referring to it as “bittersweet” and saying, “I was 16 when I started, and my cast on the show is like my second family because I grew up on the show.” It will be sad not to have the opportunity to work with them on the show anymore.

She also announced her shocking departure on Instagram. 

“I would like to inform you that I will be departing from General Hospital. Currently, I am working on writing my own story from my point of view, which has been, thus far, cathartic and hopefully inspiring to other women.”  

Many of Lexi’s admirers expressed their sadness in the comments section.

One admirer commented, “You are an incredible actress and will be greatly missed.” 

“General Hospital has always been a top priority, but I have been interested in exploring new career opportunities that fit with my changing interests and objectives. I am sure that this decision will benefit me in developing my skills and reaching outside of the industry,” she said.
