How was Alex found?
In the wee hours of Wednesday, a medical student discovered Alex wandering by himself in the pouring rain close to the southern French town of Revel, which is around an hour’s drive from Toulouse. The student offered Alex a ride.
While working as a pharmaceutical delivery driver, Fabien Accidini noticed Alex by the side of the road and pulled over to ask if he needed assistance.
At first, Alex pretended to be called Zac, but he soon opened up and revealed that, when he was eleven years old, his mother had abducted him.
The adolescent said that to get back to England, he had been trekking in the surrounding mountains for more than four days. After learning additional facts, the 26-year-old, who had not believed the claim at first, decided to call the police.
Mr. Accidini stated to a news channel: “After I called the police to explain the situation when the cops arrived, that’s when I realized the whole story [was real].”
In addition, he consented to Alex using his phone, which the 17-year-old used to message his grandma on Facebook in the UK with the subject line “I love you, I want to come home.”
