Star of The Challenge Nelson Thomas had to have a portion of his leg amputated a year after sustaining serious injuries in an automobile accident.
The 35-year-old reality TV star updated his fans on social media about his transition from a hospital bed to his own house. “Words can’t explain how grateful I am to be alive,” Thomas said in a social media post after the ordeal.
“God is truly great, and he has you in his hands no matter who you are. I’m in high spirits and getting stronger. This will be a long road to recovery, but to my fans, friends, and family please keep me in your prayers.”
“Being in the hospital was the most painful thing ever,” he recalls. “I was shivering, I was shaking, and I was sweating. I sweated so much that my mom had to change my sheets ten or more times during the night.”
Thomas uploaded a video of his severed leg to TikTok, displaying his first-ever knee flexion following the procedure.
“The moment I moved my knee for the first time, witnessing it in person, was truly remarkable. #March 5th #amputee #belowkneeamputee #blessed,” Thomas captioned the video.
