Derek Dallas Carr was born on March 28, 1991, is an American football quarterback for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League.
He played college football at Fresno State, where he twice received first-team All-MWC honours and was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
The Raiders’ first postseason appearance since 2002 was thanks to four-time Pro Bowler Derek Carr, who also helped the team earn a second postseason berth in 2021.
Carr lost his starting position after a 2022 campaign that fell short of expectations, and he and the Raiders’ management decided to part ways after the season.
In terms of throwing yards, passing touchdowns, and pass completions, he led the Raiders’ history when he departed the team.
Early career year
Carr enrolled as an early-entry freshman for the spring 2009 semester at Fresno State, where his brother David also played quarterback so that he could play spring football with the Bulldogs.
Then–Fresno State head coach Pat Hill stated that Carr, a true freshman, was “in the mix” for the starting quarterback position as late as mid-July.
Just a few days before the start of the 2009 season in September, Hill announced that junior Ryan Colburn would replace Carr in the starting lineup. Carr saw little action as a freshman, appearing in only five games.
Going into 2010, Colburn remained the Bulldogs’ starter. Carr began playing quarterback for Fresno State in the fall of 2011 after redshirting the 2010 campaign.
Derek Carr injury update
Carr sustained a shoulder injury during the New Orleans vs. Green Bay game. He was sacked by Rashan Gary on a third-down play and landed forcefully.
After taking the blow, the seasoned quarterback remained on the ground. After being hit, he remained on the ground and finally received care from the New Orleans medical professionals.
Carr eventually had enough strength to stand up and leave the field alone. But shortly after, he was spotted making his way to the locker room, and according to the Fox broadcast, he was obtaining an X-ray on his shoulder.
Carr was eventually listed as questionable to return by the Saints due to a shoulder injury, but he was later ruled out.
Later, Carr was reportedly being brought to a nearby hospital for extra testing, including possibly abdominal injuries, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
With a 17-0 lead, New Orleans replaced him with Jameis Winston but could not add any more points, allowing Jordan Love and the Packers to rebound for an 18-17 triumph.
Personal life
In the 2002 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans selected David Carr, the brother of Carr, as the first overall choice. From 2002 until 2012, David played for numerous clubs in the NFL. During the 1978 season, Carr’s uncle Lon Boyett played tight end for the Raiders.
Carr married his wife on June 29, 2012. The couple has a daughter and three sons. His oldest son was born with a disease that took three surgeries to treat and tied up his intestines.
Carr currently resides in the Southern Highlands master-planned community in the southern foothills of the Las Vegas Valley and is neighbours with former Raiders coach Jon Gruden. “I love Las Vegas, and I hope they love our team. I hope they like what we were able to do.

His net worth
Carr committed to a four-year, $150 million contract with the Saints this offseason. He formerly played for the Las Vegas Raiders for nine seasons.
According to projections, Carr will be worth $80 million in 2023. His football career has provided the majority of his money.
