In “The Young and the Restless,” Hunter King portrayed Summer Newman for over ten years. The persona is the daughter of Phyllis Summers and Nicholas Newman.
Summer and Kyle’s relationship was thrown for a loop when Kyle found out he was a father, but they eventually managed to patch things up in the end.
Before the pair could finally find happiness after years of suffering from different setbacks, word spread that King and Mealor were leaving “The Young and the Restless.”
Fortunately, the couple’s appearance on the show didn’t come to an end since they made another appearance at Victoria Newman and Ashland Locke’s much-anticipated wedding in late 2021.
When Kyle returned to the series in 2022, it seemed like Summer and Kyle were in for a treat. Summer wouldn’t be too far behind now that the characters had officially tied the knot.
Fans were left wondering why she decided not to come back when the part was recast with Allison Lanier as Summer.
The Words Of Summer!
When Summer revealed that she and her TV husband, Michael Mealor, would not return, her fans were upset.
“I enjoy playing Summer,” King said in an interview with the podcast Soap Opera Digest when asked about her choice to quit the program. Although it’s a strange process, I feel like it’s your family.
Even if his employment is secure, King as an actor, may find it tedious and restricting to express himself artistically after performing the same role for almost ten years.
The actress added, “I’m at a moment of growth in my life in many ways, and at this point, I feel like I’ve done a lot of growing on the show, and now it’s time to grow in other ways.” The best way for King to broaden her horizons seems to be to immerse herself in novel endeavors and unexplored genres.
Therefore, King is planning to stop sharing the screen of the show for her own career growth. It doesn’t mean that Summer is leaving.
Allison Lanier has joined the show, The Young And The Restless.” She will be playing the role of Summer Newman, followed by Hunter King.
