How old is Eric Braeden from The Young and the Restless?

One of the cast members who has been with The Young and the Restless the longest is Eric Braeden. The star began appearing on the program in the 1980s and has continued to do so throughout its existence.

Braeden, who turned 81 in April, doesn’t seem a day older than 65. As it turns out, he can thank his workouts for aging like fine wine. 

Television icon and possibly the most well-known figure in daytime history, Eric Braden is a People’s Choice Award-winning actor in film and television as well as an internationally acclaimed Emmy Award winner. He has spent 42 years as “Victor Newman” on CBS’s top-rated daytime drama series The Young and the Restless, which is made by Sony Pictures Television.

Most recently, Braeden was seen in the critically praised and financially successful STX Entertainment film Den Of Thieves, written and directed by his son Christian Gudegast and starring Pablo Schreiber, 50 Cent, Gerard Butler, and O’Shea Jackson.

In 2017, HarperCollins published Braeden’s best-selling and widely praised autobiography I’ll Be Damned.

Moreover, as per A.C. Nielsen, Braeden is one of the most well-known actors in the world and has one of the highest TVQs on television. On July 20, 2007, he became the first actor of German ancestry to get a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame since Marlene Dietrich.

In his 62 years of acting in movies and TV, Braeden has shared the screen with notable actors like  Leonardo DiCaprio, Bette Davis,  Geraldine Page, Marlon Brando, Burt Reynolds,  Dennis Weaver, Dennis Hopper, Jack Lord and so many more. His 62nd year in the industry will be in 2022.

On the Baltic Sea in Kiel, Germany, Hans-Jorg Gudegast was given the name Braeden. His childhood was somewhat gloomy as the third of four sons.

Braeden played the part of John Jacob Astor in James Cameron’s titanic Titanic, which won the Academy Award for best picture, as well as more than 120 television shows and motion pictures.

In addition to these films, Braeden has also starred in a number of others, such as 100 Rifles, Morituri, Escape From the Planet of the Apes, Operation Eichmann, The Ultimate Chase, The Ultimate Thrill, Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo, Meet The Deedles, Dayton’s Devils, and many more.

In the Lionsgate western The Man Who Came Back, which was released in 2008, Braeden served as executive producer and co-star alongside Billy Zane, Armand Assante, George Kennedy, Sean Young, and Carol Alt. The plot takes place in the 1870s amid one of the worst labor disputes in American history.

In addition to his multiple roles in primetime television series, Braeden has appeared in Jackie Collins’ Lucky Chances, The Judge And Jake Wyler, How The West Was Won. He also made a guest appearance as Cobie Smulders’ father on the CBS series How I Met Your Mother.

Additionally, he has appeared as a guest star on numerous shows, including Hawaii 5-0, Perry Mason, etc.

For the Los Angeles Maccabees, he won the U.S. National Soccer Championship in 1972–73. In 1989, Braeden was selected as the lone actor to serve on the newly established German American Advisory Board.

Braeden received a commendation from the City of Hamburg in September 2008 for his humanitarian efforts.

Braeden is an active sportsman who continues to play soccer while competing in celebrity tennis events all over the world. He engages in boxing and Olympic weightlifting as well.
