Gabby Windey and Erich Schwer are former contestants on the ABC dating show The Bachelorette.
Gabby is a contestant on season 31 of Dancing With the Stars. Windey and Schwer got engaged during the season 19 finale of The Bachelorette in September 2022. They broke up less than two months later, citing differences in their goals and life approaches.
In February 2023, Schwer, Windey’s former fiancé from The Bachelorette, moved on with his girlfriend Elizabeth Turner.
Why did Gabby and Erich break up?
The couple broke up because they weren’t compatible and weren’t each other’s best match.
Shortly after the season 19 finale of The Bachelorette, Gabby and Erich called it quits on their engagement. A source said that Gabby was the one who broke up with Erich because they “weren’t on the same page.”
“In the end, Gabby concluded they did not have a future, even though she was hoping they could give each other space and work things out.”
Additionally, Gabby hints that she ended their relationship because of the “blame” he would place on her. “For me, love holds a special place because I did just go through a breakup,” she said.
We couldn’t agree on anything, including our mutual goals or lifestyle choices, which led to the end of our relationship.
A day after the episode, Erich also confirmed his split from Gabby in an Instagram Story. We had a very unique connection, and I am glad we did,” he wrote. “I would never take it back.
Gabby is a remarkable individual who excels in her field. I wish her well in the DWTS finale and will always support her. This year, I have made a lot of growth and learned from my mistakes, and I am still improving daily. I want to use this time to spend with my loved ones and myself. Days after it was first reported that Gabby and Erich had broken up, she was spotted filming Dancing With the Stars season 31, where she was paired with Valentin Chmerkovskiy, without her engagement ring.
This led to the news of their breakup. Erich’s absence from the audience at a Dancing With the Stars taping at the time also contributed to the start of the rumors.
