On February 19, 2020, Jackson rented a house in Hollywood Hills, California, through Airbnb. Teddi Mellencamp, star of The Real Housewives, and her husband Edwin Arroyave own the property. Five hooded men, one of whom had a handgun and was wearing a ski mask, broke through the second-story balcony of the house at about 4:30 in the morning.
The intruders held a gun to the head of a woman and threatened to kill her. Following an altercation, the woman heard the men shoot Jackson three times.
In juvenile court, an 18-year-old man accused of Pop Smoke’s death in 2020 was found guilty of the rapper’s murder.
In response to a juvenile court petition accusing him of first-degree murder in the death of Pop Smoke, whose real name was Bashar Jackson, on February 19, 2020, the defendant, who was 15 at the time of the incident. Along with admitting to the robbery of a home invasion, he also acknowledged firing a gun during the crime on purpose.
It is anticipated that the man will remain in a state juvenile facility until the age of 25.
Judge J. Christopher Smith of L.A. County Superior Court informed Jackson’s 18-year-old co-defendant, 19, that Jackson “lost his life for no good reason.” “You have no right to end someone’s life and to take somebody’s property,” Smith said.
Three other people were charged in Jackson’s death: one other juvenile defendant who was a minor at the time of the crime, and Corey Walker and Keandre Rodgers, who were 19 and 18, the Associated Press reported. A judge has ruled that the media is not permitted to identify the young defendants.

Rapper Envy Caine, who goes by the username ‘@cokajigga_’ celebrated the 21-year-old’s release from prison by posting pictures of the then juvenile suspect in the killing of the ‘Welcome to the Party’ star. One of the unidentified teenagers being held in the 2020 murder case was the artist, who shared on Instagram that he had been freed.
