Lucy Beale in EastEnders was the daughter of Ian Beale and his first wife, Cindy. She was Cindy Williams Junior’s half-sister, Bobby Beale, Steven Beale’s twin, and Peter Beale’s half-sister.
As a child, Eve Brittin-Snell and Casey Anne Rothery portrayed Lucy Beale; Melissa Suffield assumed the role in 2004.
Lucy was portrayed by Hetti Bywater when she eventually returned to Walford in 2012. Hetti began her EastEnders career with a few small roles in Casualty and Doctors. Since leaving the show, she’s starred in Death in Paradise and Delicious.
What happened to Lucy in Eastenders?
Lucy was murdered on April 18, 2014.
Lucy passed away, and the next morning her body was discovered on Walford Common. Ian was devastated at the news, and so was Lucy’s twin brother, Peter.
The ten-month-long mystery of “who killed Lucy Beale” began with her death. Lucy’s brother Bobby was revealed as her murderer in the live episodes celebrating Eastenders’ 30th anniversary in February 2015.
In the weeks leading up to Lucy’s murder, she had annoyed just about everyone in Walford! Things were tense with her dad, Ian, who wasn’t supportive of her new business venture with best friend Lauren Branning.
Lauren was unaware that Lucy was sleeping with her dad, Max Branning. And Whitney Dean didn’t know that Lucy had also had a fling with Lee Carter.
It was all very messy! Meanwhile, Lucy had also upset her siblings and her stepmother, Jane.
She’d gotten on the wrong side of Denise Fox, who was engaged to Ian and crossed paths with Ben Mitchell, who’d recently been released from prison.
Who killed Lucy?
Bobby killed Lucy, and while he was behind bars, Bobby was transformed from an aggressive young boy to a sweet-tempered, nervous, religious teenager.
He has struggled to come to terms with what he did to Lucy, and his relationship with his brother Peter suffered at first.
But Bobby has started to make apologies since returning to the square. He’s even set up a charity called the Lucy Beale Foundation.
Peter has forgiven his brother too, and Grandmother Kathy has been supportive. Furthermore, Bobby has even started a relationship with Lucy’s long-lost half-sister, Anna Knight.
However, Cindy Beale finds it difficult to forgive. When she returned from the dead and reconnected with Ian, she promised that she would accept Bobby into their lives.
It was more difficult to do, though, when her daughter’s killer was present.
