In the latest episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, viewers were taken aback when David visited Sheila’s home and witnessed the dire conditions in which she and her family were living.
The scene was nothing short of heartbreaking as the camera captured lanes filled with sewage water and the overwhelming stench of urine permeating the house.
To make matters worse, the family had lost their roof in a typhoon and suffered from a devastating fire, leaving most of their belongings almost burned.
How did Sheila and David meet on 90 Day Fiancé?
Sheila, who is 31, and David, 42, met each other online. Although Sheila also wears a hearing aid and is deaf, she can speak. They have had issues communicating because she does not have a strong grasp of sign language and he can only interact with her in this way.
Sheila became envious of the interpreter, Aimee, who was young and single, as David hired her to ensure that the first meeting with Sheila’s family went as smoothly as possible. She said she would rather have a male ASL interpreter. Sheila later sobbed in front of the cameras and acknowledged that she was jealous of Aimee and David when they would exchange ASL signs and look at one another.
What happened to Sheila on 90 day fiance?
Sheila gave David a tour of her home and introduced him to her son, parents, and other family members on Sunday’s episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. Because he is deaf and Sheila’s family is not accustomed to having people from outside their culture around them, meeting Sheila’s family was awkward for him.
David was also shocked by how dilapidated her home was. There is no doubt that David’s meeting with Sheila’s family in the Philippines did not go as planned. Sheila claimed she could not express her emotions to David because she did not want to argue with him.
An Eye-Opening Visit: David’s Shocking Discovery
When they eventually got to her house in the Philippines, David was taken aback by the circumstances. The house had neither a bathroom nor running water, but there was sewage water running through the entire thing.
David called the surroundings “awful” and said they smelled like feces and urine. Additionally, he said that Sheila’s way of life was heartbreaking.
Sheila previously told the cameras she wanted David to visit her house and meet her family because they were “poor,” and she did not want to scare him away or give him the impression that she was taking advantage of him.
Overwhelmed with Doubts: David’s Emotional State
David expressed his hope for a better day the next day while acknowledging the awkwardness of the meeting. He added that he thought Sheila was ashamed of her living situation.
As a result of seeing the dilapidated house, David claimed he was “overwhelmed” and full of uncertainties. However, he made it clear that meeting her family—in particular, her son Jhonreil, 12—was his top priority.
Sadly, the meeting was awkward because, despite Aimee’s presence to translate, her family felt uncomfortable speaking to the deaf man. After all, he is deaf. Sheila’s father, Simplicio, admitted he was not sure if he thought the man’s deafness was acceptable given that he did not know him.
