During the 2023 NFL season, “Monday Night Football” has not been kind to prominent players. Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the Jets, suffered a torn Achilles in Week 1.
Running back Nick Chubb of the Browns was sidelined for the remainder of the season after sustaining a serious knee injury in Week 2.
Trevor Lawrence is the most recent to succumb to the injury bug on the big stage. On Monday night, the Bengals presented the Jaguars with an unexpectedly tough opponent as backup quarterback Jake Browning tore up Jacksonville’s defense.
In addition, they lost a crucial quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, who left the game in the fourth quarter due to a left ankle injury. It took two trainers to get a clearly irritated Lawrence to the locker room.
Lawrence is scheduled to have an MRI on Tuesday. NFL Media reports that the initial diagnosis is an ankle sprain.
Despite using crutches for lower-body support, the quarterback was reportedly in “good spirits” when he joined teammates in the locker room following the game.
He was hurt during a third-and-long play with less than six minutes remaining in the Week 13 game.
Trey Hendrickson of the Bengals, who was filling in for an injured Cam Robinson, recorded a sack on the play, but it was Jaguars left tackle Walker Little who unintentionally stepped on quarterback Josh Lawrence’s left ankle, twisting the quarterback’s leg as he fell to the ground.
After the play, frustrated at the injury, Lawrence slammed his helmet to the ground and was only able to limp gingerly with the assistance of trainers.
Continue reading the post to understand who Lawrence is, his replacement, Trevor’s net worth, and a lot more.
What happened to Trevor Lawrence?
Trevor Lawrence injured an ankle late in Monday Night Football.
Lawrence was looking for a receiver with 5:25 left when Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson was blocked by left tackle Walker Little, who inadvertently stepped on him. Hendrickson then went over the top of Lawrence, bending Lawrence’s right leg underneath him.
Little and Hendrickson had to help Lawrence up before he realized he could not walk by himself. He struck his fist against the turf and slammed his helmet down.
After Hendrickson was called for a 4-yard sack, Brandon McManus was brought out to attempt a 48-yard field goal. The game was tied 28–28 because it was wide right.
The Jaguars have listed him as questionable to return.
Who replaced the injured Lawrence?
Beathard replaced Lawrence, who was out for the remainder of the game. In the 2017 NFL Draft, the former Iowa quarterback (2012–16) was selected in the third round.
Doug Pederson comments on Trevor Lawrence
Jaguars coach Doug Pederson told reporters following the game that he had no new information regarding the status of quarterback Lawrence, adding that the QB still needed to get an MRI to find out the full extent of his injury.
He later said he didn’t know his level of concern for Lawrence without first speaking to doctors.
How long is Trevor out due to an ankle injury?
It isn’t yet clear exactly how long Lawrence will be out as a result of his ankle injury. After suffering an injury to his quarterback during the fourth quarter of the Jaguars’ defeat to the Bengals, head coach Doug Pederson chose not to provide an update.
Lawrence will have an MRI on Tuesday, which will help further determine the extent of his injury. It will be simpler to estimate a timetable for his return after that.
As noted by NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Lawrence was unable to bear weight on his ankle following his departure from the X-ray room.
The good news for Jaguars fans? Wolfe adds that after learning about Lawrence’s injury, his teammates “left him smiling” and he was in “good spirits.”
