Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) was the lovable landlord of the Queen Vic and patriarch of the Carter family in EastEnders, and his disappearance in 2022 shattered the family, particularly Linda Carter’s (Kellie Bright) life.
Mick Carter’s fate has been heavily debated since his surprise exit from EastEnders last Christmas.
The beloved character, played by Danny Dyer, appeared to die last Christmas during a fight with his new partner, Janine Butcher, and his ex, Linda Carter.
In the shocking scenes, Mick jumps off a cliff to save his loved ones before ‘drowning’ in the sea. After numerous weeks, police assumed Mick had died – but they never found a body.
There has been much debate about whether Mick is alive somewhere, given that Cindy Beale – who had been presumed dead years ago – made a shocking return earlier this year as the mysterious Rose Knight.
But could Danny Dyer return to EastEnders someday, and will Mick Carter return to Walford to reunite with Linda?

What is Eastenders all about?
EastEnders has played an important role in the history of British television drama, tackling many topics that are considered controversial or taboo in British culture and depicting a social life that was previously unknown on UK mainstream television.
EastEnders is so unrealistic because it is a serial drama (soap opera), not a documentary series.
The majority of the issues it addresses are realistic in London, but Eastenders, like any drama, compresses and exaggerates for the sake of time and entertainment.
What happened to Mick Carter in Eastenders?
Mick Carter has been “confirmed” dead, but in typical soap opera fashion, that may not be the end of his story.
The character went missing on Christmas Day 2022, after diving into the freezing sea to save Linda from drowning. Unfortunately, he never resurfaced, leaving Linda devastated. Due to his sudden death, his body never appeared.
Many have been left wondering whether Mick could have survived that fateful night, however, later scenes seemed to ‘confirm’ her beloved husband’s demise.
Linda burst into tears when Mick’s ‘Presumption of Death’ certificate arrived, realizing that he was unlikely to be found.
In scenes airing in December 2023, Linda found hope when she received a text from an unknown number claiming to be Mick and promising to explain everything.
Unluckily, the text came from Dean Wicks, who had tricked her into meeting with him.
Currently, you can watch “EastEnders” streaming on UKTV Play for free with ads or download it from Apple TV, Google Play Movies, and Amazon.
