Wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. of the Indianapolis Colts was involved in a frightening incident on Saturday during the second quarter of their Week 15 home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Pittman was running a crossing pattern across the field on a 2nd-and-8 play for the Colts offence when quarterback Gardner Minshew attempted a pass that went slightly wrong.
The youthful wide receiver leapt for the ball, gripped onto it, and then took a hard knock to his face from Damontae Kazee, the defensive back for the Steelers.
What happened to Michael Pittman?
Wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. of the Colts was struck in the face by a ball during the second quarter of their Week 15 home against the Steelers.
Following the hit, Pittman remained on the field, which prompted the Colts medical team to hurry to the wide receiver’s side. Both teams’ players kneeled to offer prayers for the wide receiver.
Prior to the injury, Pittman was having a tremendous game, catching four passes for 78 yards. After being warned for needless roughness, Kazee was removed from the game.

Michael Pittman Jr.’s concussion has kept him out of action. After spending some time on the pitch receiving medical attention, Michael Pittman Jr. leapt up to a thunderous ovation inside Lucas Oil Stadium.
Positively, he left the field of play of his own volition, considering the situation. Pittman was eventually declared out due to a concussion after being transported to the locker room for additional testing. The NFL concussion protocol will now be accessed by the wide receiver.
Before facing the Atlanta Falcons in Week 16, the Colts will hope that Pittman will go through the process. This season, the wide receiver has been terrific. Before leaving the Steelers game, he became the NFL’s 1,000th receiving yard leader for the second time.
