Beloved veteran Texas news anchor Kris Radcliffe dead at 51: ‘He was the best’
A beloved Texas news anchor described as a kind, funny and warm presence unexpectedly died at age 51.
Kris Radcliffe worked for 22 years at the local Texas TV station, NBC affiliate KCEN 6 News, which announced his unexpected passing during its evening newscast.
“Kris sat in the chair right beside me, and he was the best; Radcliffe’s co-anchor Lindsay Liepman said, holding back tears during an emotional tribute. Through tears, Liepman remarked, “I would have disregarded our producers’ cues to rap and just laughed a little longer at all of his jokes if I was aware yesterday was going to be our last newscast together.”
Wife of Kris Radcliffe states the public
Eden Radcliffe, Kris Radcliffe’s wife of nearly two decades, sent KCEN a statement regarding her husband’s sudden passing.
Libby, Eden’s sister, shared the statement on Facebook.
“On behalf of my sister, she wanted me to relay to you our profound thanks for the tremendous outpouring of love and support for her girls, their girls, and families,” she wrote. “She is getting and reading your posts and texts, but it is just too hard to reply.”
Kris gave Central Texans a voice and shared the most significant news stories for more than 20 years at KCEN.
Kris’ dedication to storytelling was evident. For six consecutive years from 2016 to 2021, he was named “Waco Tribune-Herald On-Air Television Personality of the Year,” the most anyone has won.
Kris had a strong love for his family at the center of his existence. He was a proud father of two daughters, a loving husband, and he loved being a grandfather to his granddaughter and grandson.
