Following his return to the hospital, Kate Garraway has been candid about her holiday plans with husband Derek Draper.
A former Labour lobbyist initially visited a hospital in March 2020 due to a coronavirus infection, following symptoms such as headaches, hand numbness and dyspnea.
Derek experienced a medically induced coma for ten weeks before being pronounced clear of COVID-19; nevertheless, this did not prevent him from developing multiple long-term problems.
What happened to Kate Garraway?
Kate Garraway’s husband is suffering from long-term medical problems. The father of two was given a trial discharge from the hospital in April 2021, but he has since been readmitted to the wards several times due to a variety of medical conditions, such as liver damage, kidney failure, and inflammation of the brain.
Derek’s loving wife Katie disclosed last week that he had gone back to the hospital to be monitored by doctors.
The host of Good Morning Britain expressed her hope for a stress-free Christmas after his most recent incident.
Where is Kate Garraway now?
Kate is entertaining the entire family in their London residence. In November, Derek was admitted back to the hospital.
Kate, 56, tells OK! that Derek is receiving therapy in the hospital. It’s not an emergency or a sudden, drastic return to critical care; rather, it’s a process that began last year and is hopefully going to get better.
“I’ve succeeded in submitting it before the year ends. We attempted to accomplish everything in the summer, but as you might see, there are time constraints, referrals, and other issues.”
Derek and Kate, who got married in 2005, intend to welcome the entire family to their north London residence.
“It’s a practical solution because it’s quite challenging for Derek to travel,” Kate said. “So it’s easier for people to come to us, which means they have to suffer my cooking!”
“We’ll just get as much of the family, the Drapers and the Garraways, together – even if it’s not all on one day,” Kate says.
This year, we’re going to approach it like a four- or five-day season, so I’ll be cooking a lot.”
How is Kate Garraway holding up?
Kate recently acknowledged that she worries about losing Derek all the time. Derek currently needs full-time care on the ground level of the couple’s London home.
“I’d love to be able to tell you that, since Derek has been home, everything has been easy, that the miracle of him being at home has turned the day-to-day challenges into a breeze,” she stated to Good Housekeeping.
“But because we keep having emergency setbacks and he’s had to be rushed back into hospital so many times, the fear of him dying has never left us.” Derek and Kate are the happy couple.
parents of William, age 14, and Darcey, age 17. The GMB host has previously complimented the teenagers on how well they have handled their father’s illness, saying that they have handled it “brilliantly” and have changed how they live since his decline.
Kate has acknowledged that her health has suffered as a result of Derek’s condition, to the point that she had to be hospitalised for severe stress-related chest pains.
Kate is giving up her time to support ITV’s One Million Minutes initiative, which urges people to donate their time to combat loneliness, despite her continuous setbacks.
“We are requesting time, which is extremely valuable for the one giving it but, my goodness, extremely valuable for the one receiving it,” Kate states.
“Many of our viewers find that having us there in the morning, we have a wonderful connection and relationship that we have developed over many years,”
“On Christmas Eve or the Friday before Christmas, we used to say, ‘Have a lovely Christmas and we’ll see you on the other side.’
This was one of the things that I always felt quite sad about.” We might be the only people they see that day, so many individuals truly miss that regularity on Christmas morning.
