Longtime CBS News anchor Jeff Glor is leaving the network as part of the most recent round of layoffs at parent company Paramount Global.
Since 2019, Glor has co-anchored “CBS Saturday Morning.” He worked as the anchor of “CBS Evening News” for eighteen months before joining the show. Jeff preceded Norah O’Donnell.
Three seasoned correspondents are also leaving the network news division: Ben Tracy, who reported on environmental issues from Los Angeles; Anna Werner, the senior consumer investigative correspondent; and Roxana Saberi, a reporter based in Chicago.
A CBS News representative declined to comment.
What happened to Jeff Glor?
Jeff Glor exits CBS News in the wake of Paramount layoffs
On October 5, 2024, viewers of “CBS Saturday Morning” probably noticed that Jeff Glor was absent from the anchor desk. That’s because CBS laid off Glor in late September 2024.
Glor’s last show was Sept. 28, 2024, allowing him to bid farewell to viewers.
Glor told viewers, “I hope to see you again soon,” and thanked Jacobson and Miller in his last moments as an anchor. He referred to them as his “on-air family.”
“Thank you for watching,” he added. “It means everything. I don’t know what’s next, but I do know: I love what I do. I love working with great people and putting quality on the air, interviewing, anchoring, reporting, and doing stories that will last. That is not going away.”
Glor began her career with CBS News in 2007 as a reporter and anchor for The Early Show, a CBS Sunday Morning spinoff that was later relaunched as CBS This Morning. After Scott Pelley was replaced in December 2017, he was named anchor of CBS Evening News.
His job was cut as part of a larger restructuring by Paramount Global, the owner of CBS, preparing itself to be acquired by Skydance Media. The business has a lot of debt and has previously stated that job cuts were in the works.
Nothing is known about Glor’s plans or whether he plans to stay in the broadcast industry.
Dana Jacobson and Michelle Miller, Glor’s previous co-anchors, are still present on the program, thanks to CBS. Whether a third anchor will be added in the future or whether the Saturday show will remain with just two anchors is unclear.
