Dr. Phil, (Phillip Calvin McGraw), was born on September 1, 1950, in the United States. He is an author and television personality best known for hosting the talk show Dr. Phil.
American talk show Dr. Phil was founded by Oprah Winfrey and her host, Phil McGraw. The Oprah Winfrey Show segments featuring McGraw were followed by the September 16, 2002, premiere of Dr. Phil.
In both programs, McGraw shares “life strategies” that he has learned from his experiences as a forensic and clinical psychologist. The program airs in syndication in multiple US states and other nations.
The show was recorded in Stage 29 on the Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood, California, in front of a live studio audience.
With a break for the holidays in December, it is recorded from August to May. It was revealed on October 25, 2018, that Dr. Phil had received a four-season renewal, extending the program until 2023, or until the conclusion of its 21st season, which would be officially announced as the final one in January of that year. The last show was broadcast on May 25, 2023.
What happened to Dr. Phil?
Dr. Phil is coming back, and this time, he is in primetime. Less than half a year after Dr. Phil McGraw ended his long-running daytime talk show after 21 seasons, the TV personality is coming back on viewers’s screens, and this time, his show will air at 8 p.m. ET.
“I am returning to primetime on a brand-new network called Merit Street Media,” the 73-year-old McGraw declared in a video message that was uploaded to X.
“I want to share some news with you regarding my new network, though. This network is ours; it is not mine. Your priorities will be the only thing on which this will be focused.
Dr. Phil will be on in primetime, so talk about what you want to talk about and do.”
Merit Street will debut on April 2, 2024, thanks to a partnership between Dr. Phil and Trinity Broadcasting Network, based in Fort Worth. His program, Dr. Phil Primetime, will serve as the network’s centerpiece.
The enduring series Cops and Jail, as well as Crime Stories with Nancy Grace, are among the other scheduled shows.
