What happened to Derek Watt?
Derek Watt was injured recently. During Pittsburgh’s first-quarter punt coverage, Derek was hurt. A block from behind sent Derek sprawling in the direction of the ball carrier, where his head collided with Alex Erickson’s knee, the return man.
Derek lay on his back, not moving, as trainers rushed out to help him. When the ESPN broadcast came back from a commercial, it showed Watt walking to the sidelines with assistance.
According to the Steelers, Watt was put into concussion protocol right away and declared ineligible for the game at halftime.
