During one of his performances, a firework reportedly malfunctioned and exploded near his face, causing severe damage to his left eye.

The legendary rocker informed the audience that, while he has “a leaky eye” as a result of one of his eyes not receiving enough lubrication, he does not have a glass eye, contrary to what some of them may have heard.
The 73-year-old singer went on to perform some of his biggest hits for the sold-out crowd, including a cover of The Beatles’ “A Day in the Life,” telling the audience that he wishes he had written the song himself.
Joel continued to be self-deprecating throughout the night, making fun of his age while entertaining the crowd.
