Shawty Lo Car Accident: What happened to the Rapper?

Rapper Shawty Lo passed away on Wednesday following a car accident in Atlanta, according to his manager.

He was best known for his song “Dey Know” and an abandoned reality TV program about the mothers of his 11 children.

Let’s continue reading the story to learn more about how he died.

About Shawty Lo

Along with Fabo, Mook-B, Stoney, and Shawty Lo, the Atlanta-based rap trio D4L was founded.

The trio became well-known in the early 2000s because of hits including “Laffy Taffy,” “Betcha Can’t Do It Like Me,” and “I’m da Man.”

Shawty Lo went solo and released his debut commercial solo single “Dey Know” off his 2008 solo LP Units In The City after their music helped usher in the “snap music” period in southern Hip-Hop. He only ever released one solo record in his whole career.

What happened at the accident scene

Shawty Lo reportedly had a significant amount of cash on him at the time of the accident, which was discovered all around the accident scene, according to 11Alive.

The woman in his car told police that they begged him to slow down while they were on the freeway, but he didn’t respond in time.

His cause of death was determined by medical examiners to be ‘blunt force trauma’ to the head, which happened after he was thrown from the car when it flipped. He was just forty.

According to a Fulton County Medical Examiner’s report, Carlos “Shawty Lo” Walker’s passengers asked him to slow down before the fatal collision that killed him on September 21. Deshondria and Destini, the two ladies, spoke to investigators.

The car hit the grass, started to fishtail, and the decedent lost control. It then flipped over, crashed, and caught fire.

It appears that part of the car’s contents burnt in the fire, and some leaked out and are now dispersed across the surrounding region.

The 2016 Audi that Carlos Walker, a D4L artist, was riding in when it overturned and crashed on September 21, 2016, as he exited Interstate 285 at Cascade Road.

According to reports, he was driving too fast when he lost control of the car, staggered over the guardrail, grass, and embankment.

Before it crashed and caught fire, the car overturned. Two of his female passengers somehow managed to flee and survive the collision.

Walker, age 40, was declared dead on the spot. According to the Medical Examiner’s report, he was not buckled up in his 2016 Audi.

There are 11 children left behind. When he died in a crash, the others in the car weren’t hurt badly.

Cause of his death

The reason for Walker’s demise is given as “blunt force injuries of the head” in the report. Walker’s body stank of alcohol, according to the Medical Examiner’s report, though toxicology results are still pending.

Walker was found with a prescription bottle containing the painkillers acetaminophen/hydrocodone and acetaminophen/oxycodone, popularly known as Vicodin and Percocet, the report stated.

His last appearance

His life was honored at a ceremony held in Atlanta’s Blue Flame Lounge—the last location where the late Rapper was seen alive.

On October 1, 2016, he was laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park, Georgia.

Shawty Lo’s music has influenced Hip-Hop for a long time. Recently, Latto copied his famed “I’m da Man” bars for her successful song, “Put It On Da Floor.”
