Netflix is an ever-changing creature, constantly adding new content to entice potential subscribers. But to make room for the fresh stuff, some of the stuff you’ve always wanted to watch—and have had on your to-watch list for months or years—has to go to a farm upstate, never to be seen again.
Netflix has been miles ahead in having all six seasons of Community on its service for the past few years, but that will soon come to an end, with all six seasons set to depart on April 1st, 2024.
The show has been available on Netflix for four years, with all six seasons debuting on the platform on April 1st, 2020.
The removal has yet to appear in the Netflix app, but it will take place over the next few weeks. Once there, the notice will state that your last day to watch the show will be March 31st.
As we continue to keep our radars tuned for any updates regarding Peacock’s Dan Harmon & Andrew Guest-penned Community: The Movie, we’ve got a streaming update to pass along regarding the beloved Donald Glover (Troy), Ken Jeong (Ben Chang), and Yvette.
The series stars Nicole Brown as Shirley, Joel McHale as Jeff, Gillian Jacobs as Britta, Danny Pudi as Abed, Alison Brie as Annie, and Jim Rash as Craig Pelton. According to reports, Community will leave Netflix on April 1st, and it appears that this is no joke.
Brown put the word out to fans so they had enough advanced notice, and the series is still streaming on Hulu
Of course, Netflix could reverse its decision to remove the show (all Netflix removals and additions are subject to change) and strike a new deal, but sources indicate that has not happened yet and will not happen either.
The good news is that the show is still on Hulu, with all six seasons available. We would also expect the show to move to Peacock shortly.
In addition, the show is available on other international streaming services. For example, in the United Kingdom, the show is available on ITVX.
Although this is a significant loss to the Netflix library (especially for me), there is some good news. Netflix has recently acquired some additional licensed comedy series.
In March, viewers in the United States will be treated to two new series: The Jamie Foxx Show and Martin. Netflix US recently also got the Disney-owned series My Wife & Kids and The Wonder Years.
Are you disappointed that Community will be leaving Netflix soon?
