Chas Dingle, portrayed by Lucy Pargeter, is a fictional character from the British Soap Opera Emmerdale (previously known as Livesy and Spencer). She initially appeared in the episode that aired on October 16, 2002. Chas arrived back on September 21, 2003.

After seeing Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) get shot, Gennie’s sister and best friend Katie Sugden (Sammy Winward) experienced post-traumatic stress disorder.
She also learned that Aaron had been sexually abused by Gordon Livesy (Gary Mavers), found out that she was pregnant with Paddy’s child but that Grace would not live long after birth due to bilateral renal agenesis, and then became pregnant again with their second daughter, Eve.

She temporarily departed on June 5, 2005, and started working again full-time on December 13, 2005.
Pargeter revealed in 2013 that she would be taking a little hiatus from the program to participate in “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” For one episode on December 20, the role of Pargeter was abruptly recast to give Ashley Thomas (John Middleton) a different viewpoint on the character’s physical appearance.
When Pargeter took a second maternity leave on March 31, 2017, Chas briefly left once more. On August 31, 2017, Pargeter announced her return to filming. Chas arrived back on October 25, 2017.
Because of Lucy Pargeter’s pregnancy, which she disclosed on October 31, 2016, the role of Chas would be temporarily written out in 2017.
Alongside actress Isobel Steele, who played Olivia Flaherty, Chas made her final appearance in the episode that aired on March 31, 2017, since Steele was also departing transiently to sit her GCSEs.
After giving birth to twin daughters in April 2017, Pargeter resumed filming in August of that same year. On October 25, 2017, Chas returned to the show on-screen.
