General Hospital fanatics are in deep sorrow. This is because of the unfortunate news of Sonya Eddy’s death.
What happened to her? What is the reaction of others to this?
Let’s discover it clearly in this article.
Sonya Is No More!
On Tuesday, Oscar winner Octavia Spencer confirmed the untimely death of Sonya, sharing a touching photo of the actress and praising her as a “creative angel.”
Tyler Ford, a close friend, and co-producer, revealed to TMZ that she got a nasty illness after a non-emergency operation.
Sonya Eddy, an actor for General Hospital, passed away at the age of 55 from an infection following a planned surgery.
After having surgery on December 11, Sonya was discharged from the hospital. On December 15, she started feeling unwell and went to the hospital, where doctors discovered she had an infection that had become uncontrollable, Tyler informed the source.
Sonya was put on life support on December 19 and passed away that evening.

“My heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and supporters!”
A Glimpse Of Eddy!
Eddy played the strict head nurse Epiphany Johnson in General Hospital beginning in 2006. She was Stan Johnson’s mother.
In her current role, she made an appearance in 543 episodes. She was a licensed vocational nurse. Therefore, the position was particularly meaningful to her.
California’s Concord is where Eddy was born. She obtained her B.A. in 1992 while majoring in theatre and dance at the University of California, Davis.
In 1990, she made her stage debut in Ruby Dee’s play Zora Is My Name. She also performed on stage in plays including Bloody Mary in South Pacific and The Comedy of Errors.
She relocated to Los Angeles to advance her acting career and has acted in sitcoms, including Joan of Arcadia, Seinfeld, Married… with Children, and Home Improvement.
Frank Valentini, the executive producer of General Hospital, paid tribute to the actress and expressed his heartbreak over her passing. I genuinely adored her, and not just because she was an actress.
Although the nurses’ station hub lights will now be a little darker, her spirit and light will continue to shine in the program and on our set. We offer her family, friends, and supporters our sincere condolences on behalf of the entire GH cast and crew. She is greatly missed.
