A Quick Glance On Sonya Eddy

Sonya Eddy played Epiphany Johnson, a no-nonsense, strong-willed nurse on General Hospital. She has also appeared in Seinfeld, CSI; In Case of Emergency, Everybody Hates Chris, Monk, and The Drew Carey Show.

Ms. Eddy is a skilled vocalist, voice-over artist, and improvisational and sketch artist. She was given an Arty Award for her performance in South Pacific by Rogers & Hammerstein.

A Glimpse Of General Hospital

On April 1, 1963, General Hospital had its ABC network debut. It is the recipient of the most Outstanding Drama Series, Daytime Emmy Awards.

Port Charles, a daytime series that ran from 1997 to 2003, and General Hospital: Night Shift, a primetime spinoff, were both produced by General Hospital (2007–2008).

More people watched General Hospital than any other daytime soap opera between 1979 and 1988. Thanks to the “super couple” Luke and Laura, it reached the top of the ratings at the beginning of the 1980s. The show was included in Time magazine’s list of the “100 Best TV Shows of All-Time” in 2007.

Sonya Is No More! RIP!

On December 19, Sonya Eddy (Epiphany, GH) died at the age of 55. She made her Port Charles debut in 2005, and as Epiphany on both General Hospital and its SOAPnet spin-off, GH: NIGHT SHIFT, she rapidly won over the audience.

In a statement, Executive Producer Frank Valentini said, “I am devastated by the passing of the extraordinary Sonya Eddy.

She was not just a talented actress; she was also a dear friend to me. Although the lights at the nurses’ station hub will now be a little darker, her spirit and light will continue to shine in the program and on our set.

We offer her family, friends, and supporters our sincere condolences on behalf of the entire GH cast and crew. She is much missed.

In a memorial to Eddy, Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer said on Instagram, “My buddy died last night. Another creative angel left the planet. Her hordes of admirers will miss her.
