In the Season 3 finale, fans bid farewell to Scott Forrester, and now we know the official explanation for how the adored Fly Team leader was written out. What happened to Scott Forrester in FBI: International? Here’s everything we know about Luke Kleintank’s character’s departure.
FBI: International follows the elite members of the International Fly Team of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. With its main office in Budapest, the team works to neutralize threats to American citizens by looking into crimes and acts of terrorism overseas.
Since Season 1, Luke Kleintank has portrayed Fly Team leader Scott Forrester. Vinessa Vidotto as interrogation specialist Cameron Vo, Season 3 newcomer Christina Wolfe as Special Agent Amanda Tate, and Carter Redwood as Special Agent Andre Raines complete the cast.
What happened to Forrester on FBI International?
Forrester is no longer part of the FBI International team.
Agent Scott Forrester, played by Luke Kleintank, was not only a key member of the cast but also the face of FBI: International, the third spinoff of the well-liked FBI franchise on CBS. Forrester led the elite team of agents as they navigated the tangle of red tape that comes with handling cases of international crime involving US citizens abroad.
Fans never anticipated saying goodbye to Forrester, but regrettably, Forrester is no longer on the show.
“Touts,” the eleventh episode of Season 3, was Kleintank’s last appearance as Forrester. In the following episode, “Gift” (Season 3, Episode 12), Forrester is absent while the Fly Team looks into his whereabouts. The team learns that Forrester received a message from his mother, a double agent in hiding, telling him where to look for her. When Amanda Tate, the supervisory intelligence analyst for the Fly Team, receives information from the NSA about Forrester’s mother’s location, the episode ends on a cliffhanger.
No mention of the Fly Team mourning the loss of their leader was included in the finale logline, so fans were confident that Forrester would not be killed in the line of duty like other FBI franchise leads.
Before the finale, fans assumed that Forrester would leave FBI: International to transfer to another department, just as Jamie Kellett (Heida Reed) did early on in Season 11. Supporters also hoped Forrester would go back to her side. There were also rumors among fans that Forrester would be fired. Given his track record of prioritizing his team over all others, many viewers thought he was taking a serious hit for the Fly Team.
