Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner Head for Divorce Amidst Show’s Triumph

After 18 years of marriage, Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner have separated. Fox News Digital reported that Baumgartner requested a divorce from the “Yellowstone” actor on May 1 due to “irreconcilable differences.” The separation occurred on April 11, 2023, according to the record.

Why did the divorce happen?

A few months ago, Radar Online.com reported that Christine Baumgartner had given her husband the choice to leave the show or “ride into the sunset,” according to the report.

The source quoted a friend as saying, “It (Yellowstone) knocked a hole in their family life,” and added, “Producers want the show to go on forever!

The couple’s divorce occurs as the drama series “Yellowstone,” in which Costner portrays John Dutton, is experiencing tremendous success. He was honored with a Golden Globe earlier this year for his performance in the drama series.

Divorce Disputes

An agreement for a prenuptial marriage was signed in 2004; the couple had been married for 18 years. Baumgartner allegedly refused to leave Costner’s house, in violation of the terms of the agreement. Additionally, it has been reported that she has said she will not leave until her financial demands are met.

According to court documents obtained by Radar Online, Kevin Costner and his lawyer Laura Wasser has asked the judge to issue an order that will allow them to kick Baumgartner out of the house and prevent her from going back there at any time in the future.

Even though she filed for divorce on May 1 and more than 30 days have passed since then, Costner insists that the initial prenup status included a clause requiring her to vacate their former joint residence within 30 days of the divorce filing.

The paperwork claims that Christine Baumgartner is waiting for some sort of financial incentive before raising her anchor and sailing off. Here’s how it was worded:

[She has] adopted the stance that she will not leave Kevin’s separate property home until Kevin accedes to various financial demands.

It may not seem like the best person to start making demands of anyone who is breaking legally binding marriage agreements, but this kind of situation is fraught with complications that may vary depending on who is filing each piece of paperwork.

Baumgartner might have a completely different explanation for why she stayed in the house for such a long time and assert that she did not ask Costner for any money. It will be intriguing to see how the case is resolved in court, though, if she did.
