The first film to feature a character, or in this case, two, three, or more, from the stable that once belonged to 20th Century Fox is being directed by Shawn Levy.
Before being acquired by Disney in 2019, Fox-owned several silos of Marvel characters, which allowed the studio to regain control of the character’s movie rights.
Jennifer returns as Elektra on Deadpool
After almost 20 years, Jennifer Garner is resuming her previous superhero role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress will reprise her role as Elektra in the upcoming Deadpool 3.
In the sequel to Deadpool, which is being produced by Disney and the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is currently being filmed in London, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman return as Wolverine. Requests for confirmation from PEOPLE were not immediately answered by representatives for Disney and Garner.
With her now ex-husband Ben Affleck, 51-year-old Garner first appeared as the assassin Elektra in the 2003 film Daredevil before reprising the role in her own 2005 film.
Garner expressed disappointment with her stand-alone Elektra movie to THR in 2021, especially in light of how Kevin Feige, the new president of Marvel Studios, produced successful Marvel movies after Garner left.
Since Kevin took over, everything there has improved, including the writing, the direction, and the humor contained within the stories they were telling.” she said at the time.
What can we expect from Deadpool 3, which brings back Elektra?
Shawn Levy, who co-wrote and directed the Netflix film The Adam Project with Garner and Reynolds, is the director of Deadpool 3. Garner talked about her difficulties working in Elektra’s constricting costume in a recent Glamour interview. To use the sai weapons, she claimed to have undergone extensive martial arts training.
The 2003 movie Daredevil from 20th Century Fox, in which Ben Affleck portrayed the Man Without Fear, was where Garner made her debut as the Marvel assassin.
