Initially, the cause of his “unexpected” death was not made public, but local fishermen speculated that he may have passed away from decompression sickness, also known as “the bends.”
Viewers probably remembered one of Wicked Tuna’s former stars, Nicholas Fudge, who tragically passed away in 2018 at the age of 28, as the show entered its tenth season.

The Remick & Gendron Funeral Home first announced Fudge’s passing on July 19, 2018, and “Wicked Tuna” followed up with a social media update on July 23 to confirm it. Fudge was also known by the nickname “Duffy.”
Decompression sickness
Scuba divers and deep-sea divers frequently suffer from decompression sickness. It is brought on by a sudden drop in pressure that can result in nitrogen bubbles forming in the blood, which can cause symptoms like dizziness and joint pain up to death.
Fudge, who had a reputation for being an expert angler, is survived by his parents, Ronald Jr. and Judy Fudge, his brother Cody, and his girlfriend Ali Currier.
